Kings Canyon National Park is located in Eastern California about an 4 hours from either San Francisco or Los Angeles, just West of the Nevada border. Near Highway 198 to the east and Highway 180 to the North. Kings Canyon was carved out by the Kings River which starts high in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and flows west to the San Joaquin Valley. Many Sequoia trees can be found in the park including the General Grant Tree in the small Western Island Area of the park that is adjacent to Sequoia National Park. Beyond the spectacular groves of trees, visitors will also be able to see high mountain peaks, deep canyons and raging rivers. Hikers are sure to love the John Muir Trail and Pacific Crest Trail in the High Sierra country on the East end of the park. Most of Kings Canyon is accessable only on foot, as there is only one road leading through the canyon. On the Eastern border  of Kings Canyon is the Sierra Nevada Mountains, including the tallest mountain in the continental United States – Mount Whitney. To the immediate South is Sequoia National Park.
