Sequoia National Park is located in Eastern California about an 4 hours from either San Francisco or Los Angeles, just West of the Nevada border. Near Highway 198 to the east and Highway 180 to the North. Sequoia is home to the world's largest trees – The mighty Sequoias that the park is named for. The very largest being The General Sherman Tree. Some of these trees exceed 300 feet in height and have diameters of 40 feet. Even the branches are 8 feet in diameter. Sequoia trees are so large, they make other "normal sized" trees look like small saplings. Lots of wildlife can be seen including mule deer, black bears, many rodents and many birds. Beyond the spectacular trees in the giant forest, visitors will also be able to see high mountain peaks, deep canyons and rushing rivers. On the Eastern border of Sequoia is the tallest mountain in the continental United States – Mount Whitney. To the immediate North is Kings Canyon National Park.
